CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS - Winter 2025

Tier 1

The Swamp Donkeys absolutely BUM RUSH Old Time Hockey to Win the "Top of the Food Chain" Tier 1 All Star Championship 6-0.  Jeff McKee gets the game winner with his goal at 13:00 of the 1st. Goaltender Mason Kessler earns MVP honors stopping all 19 shots.  Stellar defense from the Mason Brothers (Captain Dave  - 1a, and Matt 2a), proved the difference, as upfront Mike also added 2 goals and an assist.  Other scoring from the Donkeys included Jake "the Snake" McCarthy (1a), Jay "ringer" Briendel (2g 2pim), Greg Thompson (1a), Pat Bishop (1g), and Ray Mueller (1g).  Congrats to the Swamp Donkeys on being the absolute best team in the state.

 

Tier 2

In the game of the session, http://www.woodcockrefrigeration.com/, comes from being down 0-1 to defeat Blowhole Nation and win the Tier 2 Championship 2-1.  MVP honors go out to Goaltender Donald "moore shots please" Moorecraft, who stopped 39 of 40 Blowhole Nation attempts and was simply fantastic in the win.  BN came out strong as Brennan Lundberg scored first to give them the 1st period lead.  No goals were scored from either team in the second.  In the third period captain Sean Fellows scored to tie the game, and the crowd went crazy, ( all two people in the stands).  6 minutes later, Scott Bradley netted the game winner assisted by Jake Beaulieu giving the youngsters the coveted Tier 2 title.   

Tier 3

The Loose Cannons Jump out to a 2-0 lead 4 minutes into the game the defeat the Boneheads 6-3 to win the Tier 3 Championship.   The Cannons received points from 8 players in the win, including " Slava, Slava, Slava" Adveenko (1g 1a), JP Jordan (2 g), Frank Rozio ( 1g 1a), Zach McGrail (1g 1a), Andrew Votta (1a), Evan Krawiec (1a), and Ethan DeGrego (2a).  The Boneheads did make a game of it, coming back to close the gap to only a goal in the second period behind the goaltending Greg Benoit who was under attack all game, stopping 44 of 50 shots.   In the third, the Cannons shut the door allowing only 1 goal, and scoring 2 with MVP tender Kurt Rhodes. Bonehead Scoring was as follows: Nate Duquette (1g 1a), Nick "hold the " Mayo (1g), Matt Carignan (1g), and Dawson Rigg (2a).   Congrats to Captain Tony Pacileo and the Loose Cannons on the Championship.

Tier 4

The Ice Goats destroy the Freeze to win the Tier 4 Championship 9-3.  MVP Jarrett Rennie had 4 goals and 2 assists and left us all wondering.   Tim Poulin added 2 goals and an apple, and Ryan DeMatteo logged a goal and 2 assists.  Nico Capone and Connor Vicerman rounded out the scoring with a goal each.  GOAT tender and fill in Ryan Coons stopped 35 of 37 Freeze shots.   Captain Gerry Giaimo was in attendance and seemed pleased with the teams performance. For The Freeze, Matt Cohen had 2 goals and Erik Biggart added the third.  Jordan Virgulto, Kevin Daly and John Meskan all had assists.

Tier 5

The Mighty Shrimps upend the returning champion Nailers 8-4 to win the Tier 5 Championship.  The Shrimp bench was like spring break weekend, as 10 players put up points for the youngsters.  MaxMcPhee had the game winner, and Tyler Matukakis earned MVP honors with 3 goals.    Mighty Shrimp Captain Chris Whitaker had two goals in the win, with a bench wave after his first.  Alex Stoner had a goal and an assist, and JT "Ted" nugent had a goal as well. For the Nailers, Mike Schlage locked down 2 goals, Brian Withycombe and Jack Carroll had a goal each.  Congrats to the Mighty Shrimps on their victory.

 

Tier 6

The Grrrrrizzzlies defeat Shut Yer 5 Hole 3-0 and claw their way to a Tier 6 Championship.  Goals were scored by Devin "Central" Henaghan, Kyle " New Shoes" Dorau, and Dan "I can insure this victory" Sardilli (1G 1A).   Lauren O'Connor and Colin Fogarty each threw in a Honeycrisp as well.  'Tender Dan Sisson gains MVP honors, stopping 21 SY5H shots, and did not offer any complaining about the other goalie being too good, which was a win on all accounts. Shut Yer 5 Hole pressed all game but the Grizzly defense was like a Bear protecting its Cubs.

 

Tier 6 - Northford

The Growlers defeat Havrati Party 5-1 to win the Northford Tier 6 Championship.   Growlers captain Pam Corcoran gets MVP honors, stopping 24 of 25 shots in the win.  Goals were scored by Juana Baribeau (2), Ro Nanavati, Kevin Daly, and Cory Reilly in the win.   Kenny "Turn the" Page had the only goal for Havrati Party. 

 

Tier 7

The Shooters were "Happy" as they dominated the Honey Badgers 5-0 to win the Tier 7 Championship.  Goals scored by Captain Cody Carr, Jorge Santi, CO-MVP Mike "Eruzione" Laudano ( 1G 1A), Joe "That was a #$$#$% penalty" Dawe, and Sniper Neil "$" Patel. Logan Mills added an apple for good measure.  CJ Hangen take Co MVP honors with the shut out performance, stopping all 21 Badger shots. The Honey Badgers pulled landscape duty and couldnt seem to get going until late in the game.
